Palatine Invitational - Meet of Champions
Maine South’s Tommy Brady was just looking for some shade and liquid after his win Saturday in the Boys Varsity race at the Palatine Invitational Meet of Champions. The same was true for every runner that crossed the sun baked finish line at Deer Grove East Forest Preserve. By the time the Girls Varsity race started near 10:00 AM, temperatures were in the mid-80’s. It wasn’t the survival of the fittest. It was the survival of the smartest. Brady showed that in his win. Rachel Hickey: You are not defined by one race

Hickey struggled through her junior year but has rediscovered her love for running. In her essay "To the Runner Who Doubts Themselves: You Are Not Defined by One

First to the Finish Invitational Preview
When schools started to arrive last year at Detweiller Park for this meet, they found a huge mud pit to run on. Then again, you run on anything in a cross-country race. Last year’s times were on the average 40 seconds slower than usual. On Saturday, it will be a 180 degree turn in what should be near perfect conditions. No rain in the forecast, temperatures in the mid-70’s with low humidity. What a difference a year makes! A record for this meet 199 schools will converge on historic Detweiller
